The Indiana Mineral Aggregates Association (IMAA) hosted its annual Winter Workshops earlier this month. Aggregate industry leaders and professionals from across the state had the opportunity to network, share best practices and celebrate achievements.
US Aggregates team members presented throughout Winter Workshop sessions. Director of Business Development and IMAA Board Member Caleb Brown was a panelist for the Leadership Lessons panel, where he discussed how to engage employees, improve retention and create a strong company culture. Additionally, The Heritage Group’s Master Black Belt Jim Massoels presented What is 5S? Lean Processes – Continuous Improvement during the plant operators’ breakout session.
US Aggregates was honored to be recognized by the IMAA in several categories for its contributions to the industry. US Aggregates received 16 Gold Excellence in Mining awards across its plants. The award is given based on company and location consistency in strong safety programs, environmental programs and outstanding community and employee relationships.
The US Aggregate Cloverdale locations were also awarded the Community Connection award in recognition of outstanding service and partnership with the Mill Creek Backpack Ministry with Amo First Baptist Church in Amo, Indiana, where the team worked to provide Thanksgiving treat bags for 45 children at Mill Creek East and West Elementary Schools.
In addition, US Aggregates had 13 sites receive a Safety Achievement award. These awards are granted to sites with no reportable injuries for at least one-year, different awards are given based on how long a site goes without a reportable injury. This distinction is a testament to the importance of safety culture at US Aggregates and the key foundation it plays in daily operations.
We are proud to share that the IMAA presented its President’s Distinguished Service award to Director of Quality Eric Woodings. This award recognizes an individual who volunteers and conducts projects and activities with outstanding service to IMAA for more than five years. Eric was nominated by 2024 IMAA President and Irving Materials Inc. Area Manager Brian Duncan and IMAA Executive Director Calvin Lee.
Brian noted that Eric has played a vital role in the IMAA technical committee as a previous chairman. Eric currently serves as a leader of IMAA small tasks group, which meets with INDOT on a regular basis. “Eric has been an instrumental leader with a certified aggregate producer program and continually shares his vast industry knowledge with the next generation of industry professionals,” Brian shared.
Eric has evolved the Quality Control department at US Aggregates over the last two decades and has been an influential mentor for IMAA members. US Aggregates is proud of the work he has done in its operations and the impact he has had on the aggregates industry. Thank you for all that you do Eric! The Quality Control department also received a remarkable three CAPP Quality Achievement awards in recognition of outstanding performance as an INDOT certified aggregate producer at Swisher, Lowell and Portland.
US Aggregates is truly grateful to receive recognition for our team’s dedication to excellence, environmental responsibility and safety in all aspects of our operations. We take great pride in the work we do every day to ensure our products surpass industry standards, all while prioritizing the safety and well-being of our miners. Congratulations once again on these well-earned awards!
