Lowell Leadman Tim Schoonveld started his US Aggregates® journey as a night shift maintenance and haul truck driver 13 years ago!
Before coming to US Aggregates, he worked in dirt construction for a couple of years and as a dump truck driver while working on his family’s farm for over 17 years. These experiences provided him with a strong toolset for the aggregates industry.
As a leadman, Tim enjoys being able to strategize different ways to improve and maximize the processes within the Lowell plant. In the mornings, he leads the safety meetings and helps get the plant up and running. Following startup, he goes around the site and inspects conveyor belts and the materials coming off to ensure everything is running smoothly. He also reviews night shift paperwork to ensure all parts and tools needed are ordered on time. Tim also works alongside QC to uphold proper product specifications and gradations.
Lowell Assistant Plant Manager Kema Stevens highlighted that Tim is a great asset to the Lowell team and US Aggregates. “With his vast knowledge of the plant and processes, I know that any task he is given, he will get it done efficiently and safely,” said Kema.
Tim encourages new leadmen to lean on their team and foster a collaborative environment where all members’ strengths are utilized to achieve success. He also emphasized his deep gratitude for the team at Lowell and all the hard work they put in daily. “We couldn’t be as successful without each of them putting in their fair share of ideas and effort.”
Outside of work you can find Tim helping out at his church and spending quality time with his wife, kids and grandchildren. He also is known for being a skilled huntsman and angler.
Tim, thank you for your passion for always looking for opportunities to improve the plant and your continuous leadership! The US Aggregates team is grateful to work with and learn from you.
