Aaron Thomas, Fairview Equipment Operator and Loader, has been with US Aggregates® for over 10 years. His first position was as a laborer at our Richmond location. Before joining the company, Aaron was an oil tank driver located in Ossian, Indiana.
Aaron’s day-to-day responsibilities cover a wide variety of tasks. The majority of his time is spent loading trucks at Fairview as the main employee. However, he can also be found checking the mail, entering production results into our Ripple platform and even scheduling drillers and blasters.
Fairview/Ridgeville Plant Manager, Jake Hoying is grateful for Aaron’s devotion and ability to lead at Fairview. “It has been a very busy year for sales and Aaron has played an integral part in this. His vast array of knowledge and talent stands alone in the daily operations of Fairview,” shared Jake. He also highlighted that Aaron has contributed many ideas to further develop and improve the Fairview location.
Aaron’s most impactful project has been removing a radial stacker and sand screw from the Perkinsville site. He also spotlighted his involvement in building a few new conveyors at the Richmond site.
He shared that there’s no better feeling than getting the load weight right on the first try when operating a loader, without needing a second bucket or having to remove excess. It’s a moment of precision. When reflecting on his journey at US Aggregates, Aaron feels joyous. “I still feel like a 5-year-old playing in a sand box every time I drive that bucket into a pile I just don’t have to make the noises anymore,” Aaron illustrated. He is beyond grateful for the trust and opportunity that US Aggregates has provided him to be the solo lead at the Fairview site. Aaron also encourages new miners to remain coachable because there’s always something new to learn and improve upon.
Outside of work, Aaron loves spending time with his family. He’s passionate about supporting each of their hobbies. His oldest son is involved in numerous band activities, and his daughter cheers and plays the french horn. His youngest son does a little bit of everything and enjoys playing catch with the football.
Thank you, Aaron, for being a true leader, the work you do day in and day out is key to the success of Fairview! Your hard work and knack for constantly improving processes around the plant is inspiring and leaves an impact on everyone you work with. US Aggregates could not be prouder to work with such a talented team member!
