The 2015 Winter Workshops of the Indiana Mineral Aggregates Association were held at the J.W. Marriott in Indianapolis, IN on February 2nd through 4th. A highlight of this annual event was the Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, February 3rd. The “Excellence in Mining” Awards were presented to award winners from the plants who had successfully qualified for this honor.
The “Excellence in Mining” (E.I.M.) Awards are presented each year to IMAA producer member companies that excel in the following categories: Environmental Programs, Safety Programs, Employee and Community Relations. These awards are sponsored by the IMAA Public Information and Education (P.I.E.) Committee to promote pride in the programs at local plants and quarries. The P.I.E. Committee Vice Chair Sonya Cowles of NALC, LLC, announced the Gold and Silver E.I.M. Award winners who had met the specified criteria to receive recognition for the 2014 year. Andy Williams of Rogers Group, Inc., and President of the IMAA Board of Directors, presented the award certificates to representatives from each of the winning plants. Overall, IMAA awarded 6 Silver Excellence in Mining awards and 70 Gold Excellence in Mining awards to participating plants and quarries.
Indiana Mineral Aggregates Association is a trade association representing crushed stone, sand and gravel, and slag companies in Indiana. The current membership consists of 40 producer companies which comprise 156 plants and quarries that produce 90% of the aggregate mined in Indiana. Associate members number 103 companies who provide goods and services to the producers.
