Each year, the Indiana Mineral Aggregates Association (IMAA) hosts an annual Winter Workshop that brings together industry leaders and professionals from across the state to recognize achievements and share best practices in the field of aggregates. US Aggregates was honored to be recognized in several categories for its industry contributions during the early February 2024 event.
US Aggregates received 15 Gold Excellence in Mining awards and one Silver award across all its plants. Excellence in Mining awards are determined by four categories: environmental, safety, employee relations and community relations.
Additionally, 11 plants were recognized for their commitment to safety and given safety awards. These awards are given to plants with no reportable injuries for at least one year, with different awards being given out based on the length of time without a reportable injury. US Aggregates has achieved these awards by prioritizing safety protocols and procedures across all operations. This recognition is a testament to the importance US Aggregates places on worker safety and its commitment to setting high standards for employee health and wellbeing.
IMAA presented this year’s Keystone Award to US Aggregates President John Schmidt. This award recognizes an individual in the aggregates industry who has shown exceptional leadership and outstanding dedication to advancing the goals, growth and wellbeing of the Indiana aggregates industry.
US Aggregates was also represented during two IMAA Winter Workshop sessions. Project Engineer Kensington Kissel moderated the Women Leaders in Mining & Aggregates breakout session where Director of Operations Kristin Sweeney shared her insights on a panel. Environmental Manager Laurie Webb also lead a session on reducing carbon footprints.
US Aggregates is honored to be recognized for its commitment to quality, environmental stewardship, and safety in our operations among its industry peers. We are proud of the work we do to ensure our products exceed industry standards and keep our workers safe on the job site. Congratulations again on these well-deserved awards.
