US Aggregates Rockstar: Chris Mahoney

Equipment Operator and Laborer Chris Mahoney has worked within the mining industry since 2005. When he joined the team at our 243/Deer Creek location in Cloverdale, IN, in 2014, Chris noticed that US Agg was different from all the other places he had worked at. “US Agg is a more stable company,” Chris said. “We have a better safety culture here.” Now, over the past 9 years, Chris has been a valuable member of the Cloverdale team.  

Throughout his career, Chris has gained valuable experience across all areas of the plant ranging from operating machines to maintenance. According to Plant Manager, Rachel Lockhart, Chris has contributed valuable insight to the team. “Chris brings a wealth of knowledge,” Rachel said. “He has been in this industry for many years and has brought good safety culture with him here to 243. He is not afraid to ask questions.” 

Chris’ dedication to safety, efficiency and accuracy can be seen in the way he takes the time to teach newer miners on site how to do things correctly. “If I don’t think you’re doing something right, I’m going to tell you,” Chris said. His leadership skills and eye for safety have not gone unnoticed by his managers. “Chris is never afraid to bring any safety concerns to my attention or the rest of his team,” Rachel said. “He is always willing to show the younger generation the right steps.”  

When Chris is not at work, he can usually be found working on his 18-acre property, spending time with his family or outside hunting.
