Eric Miller has been a crusher operator at our Linn Grove and Pleasant Mills plants for a little over a year but has been a part of the US Agg team for almost 17 years. Before transitioning to Linn Grove and Pleasant Mills, Eric worked as a dryer operator at our plant in Portland, IN, and as a leadman at Portland’s Fine Grind plant.
Looking back at the roles and positions he has held over the years, Eric explains that he likes his current role the best. “I like being a crusher operator,” Eric says. “It has a little bit of maintenance and operating in it.” He also enjoys the variety in his day-to-day schedule and the opportunity to move around the plant. “You’re always doing something or teaching somebody something,” Eric said. “It’s a neat trade.”
According to Plant Manager Kris Grandlinard, Eric has been a valuable addition to his team. “Eric has been around for a while,” Kris said. “His knowledge and expertise on a lot of things has really benefited the Linn Grove and Pleasant Mills sites.” Upon receiving the spotlight, Eric expressed that he’s happy his hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. “It’s nice to feel recognized,” Eric said. “I think it’s a good thing for these newer guys. Maybe it will inspire them to work a harder.”
Outside of work, Eric loves bowling, hunting, and spending time with his kids. He also frequently competes in Demolition Derbys. “I grew up doing it,” Eric said. “My dad and a buddy of mine do it with me. It used to be just a hobby, but it’s a big sport now.” Eric builds his own car and engines, and while he says it can be an expensive activity, he enjoys doing it.
Thank you, Eric, for your dedication to your team at Linn Grove and Pleasant Mills and your commitment to US Agg!
