Jose Mancia joined US Aggregates® as a 2nd shift maintenance worker 14 years ago!
Before joining the team, he worked as a welder on cargo ships traveling between ports in South America and North America. He also worked at Wabash National for over 13 years in project maintenance.
Today Jose is a Master Class I Union worker. His job is to identify problem areas in the plant and design and fabricate new solutions. Plant Manager Putter Hahn emphasized how grateful he is to work with Jose. “Jose is a wonderful asset, team-player and expert problem solver,” highlighted Putter.
He works daily with a plasma cutter, Metal Inert Gas (MIG) and stick welders to create replacement parts for equipment and improvements that keep operations running smoothly.
Jose’s favorite project was designing a new jumper conveyor to replace a couple of chutes that were constantly plugged with base material. “The new conveyor eliminated the recurring blockages, reduced downtime and made the operation run much more effectively,” shared Jose. In his leisure time, Jose enjoys watching his son play sports and traveling back to El Salvador to visit family.
When asked what advice he would give new miners, Jose advised that they stay safe, stay alert and stay busy. He also shared that he is grateful for US Aggregates for providing him with the opportunity to apply his welding, design and fabrication skills to make a difference. US Aggregates is beyond thankful for Jose’s unmatched ability to turn challenges into solutions! His hands-on ingenuity keeps the Delphi plant efficient and resilient.
