US Aggregates Rockstar: Steve Swingley

After working at the Portland, IN plant for over 22 years, Yard Loader Steve Swingley has become an expert in his field. Before joining US Aggregates, Steve worked in a factory and felt isolated from his team members. Now, he has made strong connections with those around him. “At the factory you came in, did your job, and went home,” Steve said. “Here, we are like a team.” 

Steve was nominated by Plant Manager Corey Price because of his vast knowledge of machinery. “There’s not a single piece of equipment that he can’t train someone on,” Corey said. Additionally, his experience makes him someone newer team members can rely on. “The first day anybody is in here, I always point out Steve,” Corey said. “I tell them if you need a hand or have a question, go to Steve.” Upon being nominated, Steve felt grateful that his hard work was not going unnoticed. “I feel like I try to give 100% every day,” Steve said. “I’m glad that Corey has noticed that I’m trying. It’s nice.” 

During his time off, Steve likes to keep himself busy by working on his farm.
